The Commission is an advisory group of 18 public members and several State agencies. Our function is to advise the Governor, the Commissioner of Transportation, and the Transportation Committee of the General Assembly on issues affecting public transportation. We do this through our Annual Report, submitted December 31 of each year, and through resolutions passed at our monthly meetings as critical issues arise during the year.
In order to be effective in our advisory role, we need to have the input of transit users and providers, local officials and planners, non-profit organizations and other members of the public. To do this we hold public hearings at various locations throughout the state during the spring and fall of each year. We also entertain comments from the public at each of our monthly meetings during the year.
Our meetings are held alternately in the Hartford area at the Legislative Office Building or the Connecticut Department of Transportation Building in Newington and the Department of Transportation Offices in New Haven. Occasionaly a meeting may be held at another location for some special purpose. Such location changes will be publicized in advance of the meeting. All meeting and public hearing dates and locations are listed on the Meetings and Public Hearings page of this website. |
