Profile >> |
 |
| Established in 1973, the Greater New Haven Transit District (GNHTD) is comprised of nine member municipalities. Services include an ADA complementary paratransit service program for 19 towns, provided under contract to
ConnDOT, and a dial-a-ride transportation service provided to any person who has reached the age of 70 and resides in one of the member municipalities.
In 2002 GNHTD, along with its partners, the City of New Haven, the New Haven Clean Cities Coalition, the United Illuminating Company and the New Haven Savings Bank, implemented a downtown circulator service and an AM and PM parking shuttle utilizing GNHTD's fleet of four fully battery-operated zero emission vehicles.
An additional service, provided through the regional Job Access Program, transported low-income clients from the New Haven region to employment opportunities along the CT shoreline.
GNHTD continues to oversee an annual Small Vehicle Acquisition Program which affords other transit and municipal agencies, as well as
ConnDOT through its 5310 program, the opportunity to "tack-on" to the procurement. Additionally, GNHTD oversees a regional bus shelter installation/replacement project and various transit enhancement projects.
